What is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi?
A BJJ Gi is a uniform designed to be worn during Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training and competition. It's designed to let you grapple while also protecting you from scrapes and carpet burn. While there are a lot of competitions out there that don't use gi's, they're an essential part of practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Why choosing a good Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi is important?
A gi is an essential part of your BJJ kit, providing protection and comfort. The right gi will be comfortable and well-fitting, ensuring you don't have to adjust it too much during training. A good also needs to be made of high-quality materials, because there's nothing worse than chafing while you're trying to train! Typically, most clubs will let you wear either a black or white gi. Many clubs have their own colours and even their own custom gis, so check with your club to see if they have club colours.
What size BJJ gi do I need?
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gis work best when they fit well. If you're not sure what siez you are, check out the sizing chart on each product page. To start with, grab measurements from your shoulder to your wrist, shoulder to hips, and around your chest. You'll also want to measure your leg length for pants. Then match the measurements up to the chart and choose the one that's closest in size. If you're still unsure, you can take the rest of the measurements or contact our team and we'll be able to help.
Is there any other gear I need?
While a good gi is probably the most essential part, along with a belt, most clubs will recommend you get a few other pieces of gear as well. You may want to get a rash guard, which helps reduce friction and prevent mat burns, or a mouth guard or crotch guard.
Do you have any other colours available?
Our standard gi BJJ colours are black and white, but we can manufacture custom gis in blue, grey, gold, navy and a wide range of other colours.
